ROSELLA MOSTELLER ANNOUNCES: THE NORTH MEETS THE SOUTH

September 2 – October 2, 2016
At the 4Ravens Gallery in Missoula

WHITEFISH, MONTANA – Rosella Mosteller’s black-and-white fine art photography has recently been purchased by the Montana Arts Council for the State of Montana’s permanent art collection. Her image, A Day to Remember, now hangs in the Chemistry Building on the University of Montana’s campus where she gave a presentation April, 2016. Her awards include the San Francisco Academy of Art University summer portfolio grant (2007), the Chicago Art Institute merit scholarship (1999-2001), and the Talbots Scholarship (2007). Her images have been juried into Montana exhibitions at the WaterWorks Art Museum, Miles City, the Hockaday Museum of Art, Kalispell, Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art, Great Falls, Missoula Art Museum, Missoula, and the Wave in Whitefish, Montana.

In October of 2015, Mosteller had a solo exhibition, Open Portfolios, and artist talk at the Hockaday Museum of Art, which garnered a full house attendance.

She has been a supporter of the Hockaday Museum of Art since the early 1980’s. Currently she volunteers for the Hockaday Museum of Art as an art guide or docent. Previously she has been a preparator-registrar, a front desk receptionist, hung exhibitions, wrote exhibition descriptions, and led tours of the exhibitions.

Her black-and-white photography exemplifies contemporary realism and each photograph is completed as an archival print in editions of three. “My hope is that each observer will notice how the abstract nature of composition and design does in fact present itself in my portfolios of contemporary realism. That each viewer will be inspired to take a closer look metaphorically, aesthetically, and physically to all that surrounds us,” says Mosteller.
