Miss Beadle, Charlotte Stewart

Last year I had the pleasure of being at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Marshfield Missouri.

This one was their 18th annual event and it celebrates and showcases Missouri heritage, along with guest speakers, political dignitaries, food, crafts, vendors, performances and more.

They also have celebrities there to meet and greet the attendees and sign autographs. I was honored to have been asked to be a part of it.

Some of the other celebrities were Jerry Mathers (the Beaver) on Leave it to Beaver. Jon Provost from “Lassie”, Allison Arngrim from “Little House on the Prairie”, Cynthia Pepper from “Kissin’ Cousins”, Sharon Baird (an original Mouseketeer!), Mimi Gibson from “Houseboat”, Karolyn Grimes from “It’s a Wonderful Life”, Michael Learned from “The Waltons” and Johnny Whittaker from “Family Affair” among others.

While I was there I ran into Charlotte Stewart who will be remembered for her role as the teacher Miss Beadle in the series “Little House on the Prairie”. Charlotte and I go way back.

I have to say without any doubt, she is one of the sweetest, loveliest ladies I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Miss Beadle might have been her most remembered role, however she has had quite a career.

She was also on such shows as “Bonanza”, “The Office”, “Gunsmoke”, “The Waltons”, and “Mannix” to name just a few. Charlotte also had a recurring role as Betty Briggs in the TV show “Twin Peaks”.

Charlotte was married for a short time to Tim Considine whom you will remember as the oldest son on “My Three Sons,” and also played Spin in the Walt Disney TV series, “Spin and Marty”. Sadly, he passed away in 2022.

She has also written her autobiography “Little House in the Hollywood Hills.”

It was wonderful seeing her again after all these years. How blessed I am to know her.

Until next time, remember the safest place to be is in someone’s prayers. MSN
