Flathead Canvas: Small Town Charm to Countryside Splendor – Jeff Troupe and B. Rex Stewart
These two artists share a love for the outdoors and were drawn to the Flathead for its rugged beauty and endless inspiration. Both Stewart and Troupe paint primarily outdoors and use bold color and brushwork which results in vibrant and energetic work. Their distinct styles nicely complement each other.

Plein Air in the Studio: Jeff Troupe

Beginning with a sketch, Jeff will demonstrate his “in studio” plein air techniques. Although he will be using a photo reference, the tips and advice he shares will apply as if he were painting on location. As he explains his choices of preferred materials, color palette, and gives painting advice, attendees will have an opportunity to have a dialog with the artist.

Participants create decorated eggs using beeswax and dyes. Step-by-step instruction for creating traditional Pysanky designs are provided, as well as hints for creating personal designs.

Wild Impressions – Wanda Mumm
Wanda Mumm presents an exhibition of her artistic and creative process through paintings, sketchbooks and journals while working 10 days on location in the Bob Marshall Wilderness through the Artist Wilderness Connection Program. Landscape subjects are of particular interest to Wanda because of the challenge and experiences one receives from direct observation. Wanda concentrates on light, painting scenes from early morning to late afternoon, as well as nocturne scenes.
