AUDITION FOR THE WIZARD OF OZ

Missoula, MT— The Missoula Community Theatre is holding an open audition on Sunday, February 26th for actors to play the roles in the classic musical, The Wizard of Oz. MCT is excited to bring the script of the Royal Shakespeare Company to life. This very familiar rendition is an adaptation of the 1939 MGM movie.

The audition will take place from 12:30-4:00pm on the third floor of the MCT Center for the Performing Arts. Please use the Main Street entrance. No advance preparation is required to audition.

A few children may be cast in the ensemble, but the lead roles will be played by adults. Director Joseph Martinez is expecting to cast about 30 people. Children, ages 10-15, may audition 12:30-2:00PM. The audition for actors ages 16 and up will be 2:00-4:00pm.

The iconic roles to be cast include Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, Cowardly Lion, as well as Glinda, the Wicked Witch of the West, and the Wizard of Oz. The ensemble will include Winkies and residents of both Munchkin Land and Oz. There are non-singing lead roles available.

Martinez and his artistic staff of music director, Ellen McKenzie, and choreographer, Meagen Hensley, expect rehearsals to be weeknights from 7-10:30pm. The performance dates are April 27-May 14, 2017. All performances of this family-friendly show will take place at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts.
