Wilkins Gallery Explores the World of Photography – Feb. 1st – 25th

It is with great pride and unbridled enthusiasm that we invite you to explore the World of Photography with us! Photography freezes time to create art. Combining the use and manipulation of science and art, this contemporary medium captures the human life and condition accurately and precisely. Our Juried Digital Photography Exhibit features the works of several of Lewistown’s own photographers as well as esteemed photographers from throughout Montana. Winners were chosen from 4 four categories: Point & Shoot, The Serene Beauty of the Natural World, Composed in the Studio and Computer Created Marvels, by Juror Neil Philip, Retired National Geographic Manager of Picture Editing & Research. Stop by the Art Center and explore the “Wonderful World of Photography”. This exhibit is sponsored by McKenna Agency: Tom & Candy McKenna.

On February 21st Douglas Braulick will teach you how to do a portrait, followed by Carol Poppenga’s Gesture Drawing on February 28th. Jackie Jensen will conclude the sessions with Drawing the Folds of the material on March 6th. The cost for the series is $60 for all 5 weeks. For High School students it’s $40 (if you agree to model once). Call the Lewistown Art Center if you need additional information.

After School Art Projects Update

The children started February off with a bang...making turtles, baskets and "what my heart loves" from self-hardening clay, that will be painted this week! We'll continue with Mardi Gras-like masks, monotypes and calligraphy printmaking. We are in for a fabulous month! And if you missed our children's Miniature Painting Show and reception, please view their artwork on our Facebook page. Did you know that some of our children’s miniature paintings sold during our reception? Not only did the children benefit themselves but they also graciously donated part of the cost of their artwork back to the after school art program. What a reminder on how important our ASA program is to our children. Thank you!
